A new search engine has surfaced, and it is called “cuil.” I believe it is pronounced “cool” Their website cuil.com suggest you’ll have over 121,6 billion web pages available to search through. They claim to search more pages than anyone else. In their comparison with the others they say they search, “three times as many as Google and ten times as many as Microsoft.”

They also say, “rather than rely on superficial popularity metrics, Cuil searches for and ranks pages based on their content and relevance…” That to me sound almost like google, except for the popularity part. Google does deliver results based on the popularity of a particular page. The more popular the page, the more chance that the web page will end up on the first search result on google.com, but, Cuil.com is more interested in relevance. Certainly, if you have a business to run on-line the new differences are very important. Where your page was lost before, it may now be found.

If what cuil.com is promising they’re able to deliver, It may prove what the experts have been saying, “content is king” What that means is even if you have good and relevant content, but, lack popularity with google because other websites didn’t link to you as much as the other website with the similar content, You may do better in the new search engine if you have better content in the way of relevance to the searched keyword or phrases. Therefore you may need to improve on your content. Of course this is speculation on my part. It is a conclusion based on what They say further on the page, “When we find a page with your keywords, we stay on that page and analyze the rest of its content, its concepts, their inter-relationships and the page’s coherency.” That seems like a hint to improve one’s content if you want your page to be found. This to me, would be another great equalizer; where as the big sites are able to buy links to satisfy google’s algorithm, or pay a staff to write content for them, You won’t necessarily have to compete with their deep pockets to be found. You don’t have to pay a lot of money for good accurate content even though it may happen slower for you.

Whether you are selling a product on-line or just posting ads, content in relation to your product or theme is still important for visibility on both Google and the new cuil.com. Some like myself, have found that submitting free articles (which is content) to websites such as article-content-king.com and other sites like it, help to increase my page popularity with google. (My mistake was not continuing to write since 2006, until recently, plus one link is out dated, and I lost the ranking because I didn’t deliver new content. ) Many people will go to article-content-king.com and extract my article with my links which points back to my site, then, they’ll post my article on their site which allows me to get many links back to my site. However, since Cuil.com is not interested in popularity but content and relevance, then, it seems using original good content on your site which they may present to someone searching for what you have, even though, you may not show up at least on the first page on google. This might be a way to cover bases in both places.

If cuil.com is to make a positive difference in the world of search for both searcher and website owners. more people will have to be aware of, and use this new search tool. Although cuil is not paying me, I don’t mind getting the word out. Competition is good for the market place. I hope cuil will be cool.

The Overture View Bid Tool Gone!

Those of us who have used this free tool to control the cost of keywords when starting  search engine PPC advertising  campaigns,  have been disappointed to find that the webpage where the tool was located now says “gone.”

Read Brad Fallon’s take on this situation:  “R .I. P.  Overture Keyword Tool“

As many of you are by now aware, Overture’s “keyword suggestion tool” has gone dead this week after about a month of sporadic behavior. I seem to recall reading that this was part of Yahoo’s plan at the tail end of last year, but I can’t seem to dig up a reference to it anymore. It appears the “view bids” tool is still functioning at this time, but I’m unsure how long it will remain in service. If I understand correctly, this is part of Yahoo’s strategy involving the updates to their PPC service (which you may have heard of by its codename “Panama”).

For beginners/newbies who want to know, What is Affiliate Marketing?

What is Affiliate Marketing?

By: Paul Ranger

Simply put, Affiliate Marketing is taking another Company’s (Affiliate site) product and/or service and promote it as if it is your own. The company then pays you a commission when the customer you’ve directed to their website makes a purchase. The good things about this type of marketing are these,

1. You do not have to stock or store products

2. Some products are delivered instantly to the customer through downloads,  or the company ships directly to the customer.

3. You don’t have to have a website of your own to profit from this, although it is preferred when you advertise on some search engines.

How do you get paid?

When you join an affiliate program thy will give you a unique code that identifies you. You are the only one with that code. This code is embedded in the link that you use to send traffic to that site.  When the prospect clicks on your ad or link and goes to the affiliate website, that code goes with them and when they make a purchase you are credited with the sale.

You don’t have a website?

Marketers with their own websites place links on their pages (Among other marketing techniques) to the affiliate sites.   However, you can bypass the no website roadblock by employing a few methods such as,  Placing ads on search engines, or e-zine which do not require you to have a site of your own.  When the customer clicks on the ad with your code in it, they will not know it is not your site if you do it correctly.

Free Advertising, is it worth it or not?

Free advertising is not worth going after because you get what you pay for.  You must spend good money on advertising if you want quality traffic to your website… This was basically the advise given by the owner of a “home based business” blog to his readers, Which I read several hours ago.

He is correct in one sense and wrong in another.  There are some places on the web such as free classified sites where,  you would be better off standing at a street corner and hand out circulars to advertise your business, because they are a waste of your time.  You just would not get the targeted traffic if any at all you would need for your site.

However being in the generic listing on the first page of a result page when a searcher/potential customer is looking for your product on  search engines such as Google or Yahoo is free traffic worth acheiving.  This, as you know, is not an easy thing to accomplish, but, it can be accomplished through methods such as writing articles and submitting them to article directories although, this is getting harder because of saturation.  Another method is exchanging links. Google still rates your site based on how many high ranking links you have coming into your site.

Another source of free traffic is satisfied customers.  A satisfied customer will either return to your site and or will tell others about you.  A good recommendation from a satisfied customer is as good as gold.

Now on the other hand if you are starting out with much money to spend, by all means spending on search engine advertising or e-zine ads.  Just be sure to watch how much you spend vs how much you’re making. the cost could add up fast, especially on google.

Not everyone has a big budget to work with in the early days of an internet business, or even an off-line business.  I can identify with that. that is why I believe in exploiting the quality free avenues as much as possible.  I’ll talk about it more later.

The Next Internet Millionaire

A couple of days a go I showed you an example of how some internet marketers are exploiting certain free avenues for advertising such as Chris Carpenter of “GoogleCash” and “Google Cash Strikes Back.” (the video) play it below!

Well, heres another example: “The next Internet Millionaire”  this is a upcoming Intervet  reality TV.  You can watch the video  at the bottom of this post.

I think that’s great!  I’m working on getting my video up as soon as possible before this door closes.  No one said it would close, but you know, when a good thing comes along there’s alway someone in the dark who just can’t wait to spoil the fun.  That sounds a bit negative on my part, but, unfortunately,  human beings do things like that.

The viral effect of video on the web is amazingly powerful, therefore use it while it’s still hot.
